CEQAThis course provides an introduction to the California Environmental Quality Act, or also known as “CEQA”. This short course will provide an overview of CEQA, its objectives, and what it means from the perspective of land development and entitlements. The sessions will discuss the levels of environmental assessment documents, how the environmental assessment process works, mitigation measures, and more terminology.

John Kaye has over 30 years experience within the land development and homebuilding industries, having held senior management positions with The Irvine Company, Koll Real Estate Group, and Brookfield Homes. As a developer, John has overseen the land acquisition, entitlements, and development of master planned communities, residential tracts, urban infill sites, and land assemblages. His experience and skill sets include land acquisition, land brokerage, project management, market analysis, finance, and strategic planning.



Peter CarlsonPeter Carlson is a 25-year veteran of the real estate development industry, with an emphasis in government entitlements, CEQA/NEPA and environmental compliance, biology/regulatory compliance, and overall land use planning. Peter’s experience includes a strong understanding of the underlying technical issues such as traffic, hydrology, biology, and geology. His firm, Carlson Strategic Land Solutions, advises private and public clients on all aspects of land and real estate development. Prior to private practice, Peter served as the Director of Planning for local city government.
